A foodie beacon that shines above Tokyo's fashion district, Two Rooms comes via a San Francisco architect that's designed a skyline eatery with central dining room, bar and outdoor lounge with water terrace. The crowd is a marriage of Tokyo elite and in-the-know businessman that seek out the main eatery with its modernist decor of wood and leather furnishings on a shiny walnut floor. The main dining room features an open-style kitchen with granite-clad bar for solo dining, in addition to an adjacent island bar with its ancient timber accents imported from New Zealand with artwork by Masashi Ozawa.
The Food
Chef Matthew Crabbe marries old and new world cuisine in a delightful and visually appealing setting for lunch and dinner. His works spans the globe, having worked at Sydney’s Tetsuya and New York Grill and Bar at the Park Hyatt Tokyo. A tasting menu of fish or beef includes truffle-salted cod, Inca potato fritter with koshi abura or grilled foie-gras and teppan-grilled Yakushima Kuromutu for the fish and char-grilled Japanese beef for the meat. Ala carte appetizers include duck foie gras sausage, teppan-grilled scallops and Coral Sea Spanner Crab Cakes that border revolutionary. The top main courses include char-grilled pork chop, roasted lamb chops with wild rocket and Australian angus cut at 350-grams.
